-Horror films are usually designed to make the audience feel fear, horror and terror.
-The plots usually include death, the supernatural or mental illness and generally have one main villain.
-Horror films usually show an ordered society unaware of amending disruption and catastrophic change that is inflicted by the villain or monster.
-The basic structure of a horror film is: order, chaos, reconstruction. This means that the opening of the film shows a setting that is more or less normal, then the main part of the story happens which is generally the scariest part and then finally the last part of the film everything is back to normal, or at least a lot calmer.
-The society affected is
-Horror is quite a versatile genre that often merges with science-fiction, thriller or fantasy.
-There is ALWAYS a monster, or villain. However the type of villain varies according to the story and sub-genres of the film. Possible types of monster are:
1)Natural. These represent primal fear and are usually unpredictable and violent. They show the primitive attacking the modern, or the primitive controlling man kind.
2)Supernatural. These usually cannot rationally exist. They are known to attack the body and soul of the victim and are stereotypically based on religious myths or folklore.
3)Psychological. Sometimes the killer is a psychotic human who may have no obvious motive. Although in some films the audience are given an excuse or reason for the killer’s actions, but not usually until the end of the film.
4)Scientific. Theses monsters have a brilliant mind yet fanatically driven and often explore the ethical issues behind using science to create evil.
